DJ TOOL’s quicksilver sound is as intrepidly propulsive as it is indebted to the old school. Isochronously authentic and assertive, his sets traverse percolating trance, frenetic techno and seductive psychedelia across an encyclopaedic back-catalogue of clandestine classics.
Enraptured by the raw essence of DJing, TOOL honed his style as part of Copenhagen’s Fast Forward collective, boasting an apodictic vinyl dexterity that quickly earned him international renown. High energy and even higher stamina, his anarchistic and indefatigable 8-hour(+) sets at Berlin’s Mala Junta have catalysed fabled closings at the likes of Tbilisi’s Bassiani, New York’s Basement, and London’s Fold.
As a co-founder of Mala Junta, TOOL’s assiduous efforts to politicise nightlife and re-contextualise trance within the queer underground has led to multiple collaborations with Berghain, as well as activist DIY collectives worldwide. From the studio to the floor, every ingredient of his output emanates an energy that’s irrefutably TOOL.
Rooted in the Enschede underground, Nafisa began her journey in electronic music as one half of duo Alien Terrarium — a project that quietly built a loyal following across the city’s clubs and airwaves.
Her solo sound moves deeper. Dark, tribal, slow-burning — sets that unfold like a ritual, pulling the room into a collective trance. Drawing influence from artists like Rrose, Forest Drive West and Svarog, she crafts journeys that feel less like performances and more like ceremonies.
Pulled-in by the enigmatic, Rob-b’s sound revolves around a minimal essence, enriched with an occasional subtle disruption. By blurring the line between dancefloor functionality and introspective listening, a new sort of experience emerges. One where there's space for both euphoria and contemplation. On a quest to merge organic textures and tribalistic rhythms, Rob-b invites the listener into a realm where mystical meets mechanical. In his sets as well as productions, a deeper state is not achieved through blunt force, but through patience.
By taking in sounds from Enschede, he’s developing a deeper yet diverse palate in both his sets and productions. Situated away from the pressure of larger metropolitan scenes, Enschede offers space to breathe. Its quieter pace allows ideas to develop. At the same time, the small local scene inspires through its distinctive sound.
